Soo Eagles’ Marceau off to Grand Valley State of ACHA

Anden Marceau of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s (NOJHL) Soo Eagles has committed to attend school and play for the Grand Valley State University Lakers men’s hockey program, who compete in Division One conference in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.

The 20-year-old from Alpena, Michigan led Sault Ste. Marie in goals this season with 32 and finished second on the squad in scoring on 53 points, while establishing personal single-season highs in each category.

Included in his offensive efforts were a hat trick, a four-goal game, and two game-winning tallies. He also supplied 13 multi-point efforts during the campaign.

Appearing in 90 career NOJHL contests, Marceau collected 81 points on 43 markers and 38 helpers.

He also averaged a point-per-game in the playoffs with 14 in as many overall outings, including five goals.

“The Eagles provided me an opportunity to develop my game, build confidence and compete at a high level,” said Marceau in discussing his commitment. “The support I received from the coaching staff played a huge role in helping me reach my goal of playing college hockey.”

In discussing Marceau moving on to the university ranks, Soo GM Bruno Bragagnolo offered: “As our leading goal getter, Anden was one of those players who had that ability to score at key times during the season. He has a very strong compete level and for opponents, was a hard player to go up against. Grand Valley State will be getting a very good player who should improve their lineup offensively.”

Based in Allendale, Michigan, the GVS Lakers skate in the seven-school Great Lakes Six Hockey Conference where they are members of the ACHA D-I.
