Soo 18U Black Score 28 Runs to Win Doubleheader Over Visiting Rudyard

On Wednesday, July 17th in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario at IDA Park, the Soo 18U Black Sox hosted the Rudyard Baseball Club in a doubleheader.

The Black Sox easily dispatched Rudyard Baseball Club on Wednesday at Sinclair Yards, 10-0 in game one of the midweek clash.

The Soo got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Thomas Keough singled, scoring one run, Nolan Toni drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Kolton Tremblay hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. The Black Sox scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cole Masse singled, scoring one run, Tremblay tripled, scoring two runs, Caleb Walker tripled, scoring one run, and Keyton Mousseau singled, scoring one run. Toni earned the win for the Soo. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Jaxon Clark took the loss for Rudyard Baseball Club. They went four innings, giving up 10 runs (six earned) on 10 hits, striking out none and walking three. Lucas Carriere and Michael Hapanovich each came on in relief for the Black Sox and shutdown Rudyard Baseball Club.

The Soo collected 10 hits in the game. Number eight hitter, Keough, showed the depth of the Black Sox’s lineup, by leading them with two hits in two at bats. Tremblay and Masse each drove in three runs for the Soo. The Black Sox didn’t commit a single error in the field. Mousseau had the most chances in the field with eight.

Tanner Baker and Ayden Paulat each collected one hit for Rudyard Baseball Club. Rudyard Baseball Club turned one double play in the game.

In game two of the evening, the Soo, Michael Hapanovich’s Big Day Propels Soo Black Sox Past Rudyard Baseball Club.

Michael Hapanovich drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Black Sox past Rudyard Baseball Club 18-2 on Wednesday. Hapanovich singled in the fourth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two. The Black Sox scored 12 runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. an error scored one run, Hapanovich singled, scoring three runs, Kolton Tremblay singled, scoring one run, Hunter Thorkilson singled, scoring one run, Nolan Toni drew a walk, scoring one run, Chase Cerasuolo was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored two runs, and Hapanovich singled, scoring two runs.

The Soo opened the scoring in the first after an error scored two runs. Rudyard Baseball Club tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a double by Kyle Postma, and a play.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Black Sox went back into the lead after Caleb Walker hit a sacrifice fly, Rudyard Baseball Club committed an error, Cole Masse singled, and Rudyard Baseball Club committed an error, each scoring one run.

Cerasuolo earned the win for the Soo. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out none and walking one. Masse stepped on the hill first for the Black Sox. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Ayden Paulat began the game for Rudyard Baseball Club. They gave up two hits and 10 runs (one earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out none and walking six. Thorkilson appeared in relief for the Soo.

Walker led the Black Sox with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Carter Young stole two bases. The Black Sox turned two double plays in the game.

Postma went 1-for-2 at the plate as the center fielder led the team with one run batted in. Jaxon Clark led Rudyard Baseball Club with two hits in two at bats from the leadoff position.

Soo Black Sox will travel to EUP Woodducks for their next game on Tuesday, July 23rd in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan with a 6:00 p.m start.
