Senior Wolverines Finish Undefeated in Elliot Lake at the 2024 NOSSA ‘A’ Championships to Qualify for ‘A’ OFSAA Championships

The excitement was incredible as the 2024 NOSSA High School ‘A’ Basketball Championships gears up for its thrilling conclusion over the February 23rd and 24th weekend in Elliot Lake, Ontario. The 2024 ‘A’ NOSSA Championships showcased the talents of some of the most promising young athletes in Northern Ontario that included Lockerby Vikings (Sudbury), White Pines Wolverines (Sault Ste Marie), Algonquin Barons (North Bay) and the hosts, the Elliot Lake Atoms that were looking to capture the hearts of Northern Ontario basketball enthusiasts and sports fans alike.

Taking place in Elliot Lake, the 2024 ‘A’ NOSSA Championships was a whirlwind of intense competition, stunning upsets, and unforgettable moments. With each game, teams have battled fiercely, demonstrating not only their athletic prowess but also their unwavering determination to emerge victorious.

The 2024 ‘A’ NOSSA Championships brought together the top ‘A’ high school basketball teams from across the north, each vying for the coveted title of champions. The road to the 2024 ‘A’ NOSSA Championships was paved with hard-fought victories and heartbreaking defeats, showcasing the resilience and skill of these young athletes from September 2023 to February 2024.

As the championships reached its climax, anticipation was at an all-time high. Fans eagerly await the showdown between the two remaining teams in the Lockerby Vikings and White Pines Wolverines, knowing that every basket, steal, and block could make the difference between victory and defeat.

The championship game did not disappoint the fans as the remaining teams left it all on the court in pursuit of glory. With the eyes of the north upon them, these young athletes are ready to write the next chapter in high school basketball history with the Wolverines punching their ticket to the 2024 OFSAA Boys’ A Basketball Championship in Welland, Ontario.

Saturday, February 24
9:00 a.m Semi Final # 1 – White Pines Wolverines (57) vs (49) Algonquin Barons
11:00 a.m  Semi Final # 2 – Lockerby Vikings (61) vs (57) Elliot Lake Atoms
2:30 p.m Championship – Lockerby Vikings (58) vs (77) White Pines Wolverines

The White Pines Wolverines will now represent Northern Ontario in Welland, Ontario at the 2024 OFSAA Boys’ A Basketball Championship on March 4th to March 6th.
