Over the Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th weekend, the St. Mary’s senior Knights finished round robin play in Timmins, Ontario with an impressive 3-0 record, showcasing their dominance on the ice. They kicked off the tournament with a strong win against Engelhart Spartans in their opening game, setting a confident tone for the weekend. In Game #2, the Knights continued their winning streak with a hard-fought victory over O’Gorman, demonstrating their depth and resilience. They capped off the round robin with a decisive win against the host team, Timmins, solidifying their spot in the finals. Riding high on their momentum, the Knights then faced Theriault in the championship game, where their hard work and teamwork paid off, leading them to a well-deserved victory and cementing their place as the tournament champions.

Knights coach Dave Zagordo told Saultsports that “Overall the girls had an outstanding tournament. Everyone contributed in one way or another. The girls really pride themselves on playing great defense and it was evident in every game. This is our second Tournament win this year and that’s due to the girls being committed to playing team basketball.”
The Knights now return to Sault Ste Marie for high school girls action when they host the Superior Heights Steelhawks at St Mary’s College on Tuesday, October 22nd with tipoff time of 7:00 p.m after the junior game at 5:30 p.m.
