What season are you entering with Sabercats? Second season

Why is summer football so important to you?
Summer football is important to me because it allows me to train and condition before high school football in the fall. It allows me to learn new skills and improve under different coaching. Playing Sabercats football provides an opportunity to play with athletes and friends from other schools. Summer football always brings memories that will stick with me for a lifetime.

What are your personal and team-oriented goals for the upcoming 2026 OSFL season?
My personal goals for this season are to be a reliable asset to our defense. Another goal is to improve in any way that I can. Team goals are making it far into playoffs and hopefully winning. I think that we have a good shot of making it far this season, with a hard hitting defense and an offense that will be moving the chains all season. Another goal for our team is to build up players and develop them to bring them to their next level.

What are you most looking forward to playing this season for the Sabercats?
I am looking forward to playing safety this season. I can’t wait to play safety because it gives me the opportunity to be a leader on the defensive side of the ball and be vocal with my teammates, whether it is calling out formations or motions before the snap. I am sure that playing football with coach DiPasquale will teach me new skills and improve my game knowledge.

For anyone that is not familiar with your play style, how would you describe yourself as a player?
I am an aggressive and strategic player that can play anywhere on the field from offense, to defense, to special teams. I am able to guard every position on the field and I am very coachable. I work, hit and play hard. I am reliable for our deep coverages. I like to play man on man coverages and I am able to high point the ball over receivers. I’d say I am very versatile with good stamina for when there are long drives or playing both ways during a game. On the offensive side of the ball, I hit the gap with speed and can be shifty, or a power house in the back field.

Who is your biggest football role model? Could be a coach, teammate?
I’d say that my brother is my biggest role model. We work and train together, pushing each other to do better. Ever since we both picked up football three years ago, it stuck with us, which led both of us to where we are today. My brother has always been successful and seeing that made me want to follow in those footsteps.

How do you stay motivated and focused during a game or practice?
I stay focused and motivated by having goals to strive for and by having routines before games to get me focused. I stay motivated because I have a passion for this sport which makes me want to keep moving forward with this sport. I am very competitive which makes me focused during close games or when we need a stop on defense. We have a very encouraging coaching staff that motivates everyone to push themselves.

What do you think makes a great leader on the football field?
A great leader consists of being vocal with your teammates whether they made a mistake or did something well. They need to be able to lead by example and show other teammates not with words but by showing them physically. Great leaders need to be able to rile up the team before games whether that is a speech, being positive in warmups, or the locker room.

What is your greatest accomplishment as a football player?
My greatest accomplishment as a player is winning NOSSA in the 2024 season with Korah. We had a very special group of players and coaches that worked hard, every practice. We had a lock down defense with no weaknesses and an offense with great chemistry. Overall, this led us to success and being an undefeated team.

What makes you the best candidate for this position that the coaches have asked you to play?
I think I am the best candidate for my position because I watch films and I know what’s coming before the ball snaps. I hit hard and I am able to guard all positions. I make the right reads and I am in the right place at the right time. I am reliable against passing teams and can be matched up with anyone. My coaches had me in the same position last season so I am experienced and familiar with playing safety.

What do you think is the most important aspect of being a member of a team?
The most important aspect of being a member of a team is just trying your hardest. If you try your hardest, coaches will be happy with your effort which leads to more opportunities on playing time and positions. I think, in some situations, that effort beats talent. I believe a hard working player will eventually be better than a player with talent but no work ethic.

Finally, what do you think is the most important quality for a football player to possess compared to other sports?
Discipline is undoubtedly the most important quality to have as a football player. I think this works with other sports as well but it resonates with football the most. Discipline comes from following rules, running correct routes, respecting coaches, and working hard. Discipline is when you mess up, get right back up and make the next play while staying focused. Discipline keeps you consistent which always leads to success.
