Sabercat U16 coach Will Basawa told Saultsports that “Our first two games couldn’t be more night and day. We fought an absolute grind of a game vs Sudbury, then went down to Durham and while we started slow ended up pulling away fairly quick. We are really trying to drive home not only the length of the season but how that time has to be used extremely efficient in order for players to hit their peak at the right time .”

U18 Sabercat coach Jamie Antonello told Saultsports that “I was proud of the effort our guys showed in week one. Having the week two bye has really helped us clean up a lot of the basics after getting our feet wet versus York on May 18th.

Basawa added that “we expect to face a gritty Clarington team, they don’t have a ton of numbers but they do have a lot of heart, you can see that on film. We’re hoping to have a hot start to the game and hopefully get a lot of back up players some meaningful playing time.”

“Vaughn is a strong opponent and we’re expecting an excellent game. Our team is excited for another opportunity to compete in front of a home crowd under the lights,” added Antonello.

If you can’t make it to the game on Saturday, June 1st, watch the U16 and U18 live from Superior Heights Field on Saultsports TV or listen on TruHous Sports Radio.
