Live MMA will return to the Sault Ste. Marie area for the first time in two years on May 30, as 2 Piece Promotions presents “Showdown in the Soo” at Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
The event will feature a mix of amateur and professional MMA and Muay Thai bouts, showcasing local talent alongside some of the top fighters from across Ontario and the American Midwest.
Local fighters representing the twin Sault area include Andrew Girardi, Arvind Grewal, David Peters, Cam Aikens, Hayden Shipp, Alec Powers, Connor Bradley, and Matt Williams.
While much of the card will highlight amateur competition—from debut fighters to those on the verge of turning professional—the main event will feature a professional welterweight MMA bout between Austin Limberger of Gaylord, Michigan, and Brendan Baker of Ludus Martial Arts in Petoskey, Michigan.
The event will also include full-contact Muay Thai—a striking discipline that incorporates punches, kicks, knees, and elbows, but no ground fighting. This marks a first for Michigan and adds an exciting new element to the card.
Sanctioned by GAMMA (the Global Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts), “Showdown in the Soo” is the first MMA event in the twin Sault area since April 27, 2024.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.2piecepromotions.com.
