On Thursday, October 25th, the 2023 Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletic High School Cross Country Running Championship brought together the best young athletes from across Northern Ontario for a day of fierce competition, determination, and sportsmanship. Hosted in Sudbury, Ontario on the campus of Laurentian University, this year’s event showcased the extraordinary talent of 377 high school cross country runners as they raced to glory that included 69 runners from schools across Algoma and Sault Ste Marie.

These student athletes and spectators gathered to create an atmosphere charged with excitement. The championships featured separate races for both boys and girls, with each participant representing their respective schools with pride.

The 2023 NOSSA High School Cross Country Running Championship was not just about winning; it was a testament to the dedication, discipline, and passion of young athletes. Their hard work and perseverance have set an inspiring example for the next generation of runners. We can only imagine the incredible achievements that lie ahead for these promising athletes. This year’s event will be etched in the memories of all who witnessed it, a true testament to the power of high school sports in uniting communities and inspiring young minds.

Two runners from Sault Ste Marie will represent their respective high school at the 2023 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations Cross Country Championships with White Pines Wolverine Aspen Devries (Novice) and Superior Height Steelhawk Peter Gartshore (Senior) at Centennial Park in Etobicoke, Ontario on November 4, 2023.
