Racers and fans of local stock car racing will have to wait for one more week for the return of high speed, action packed action to return to the Laird Raceway.
The track is amidst a rare week without competition before they will return to the 1/3 mile next Thursday, July 18th.
That night will see another full show take to the facility east of Sault Ste. Marie with a 5-in-1 show of Super Late Models, Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Four Cylinders and AIM Recyling Enduros. Intermission will feature School Bus Racing and Lawn Mower Racing (Algoma Lawn Mower Racing Association).
As usual, time trials are set for 6:00 p.m with racing action at 7:15 p.m.
Heading into next weeks’ action Chase Wilson (#77, Sault Ste. Marie, ON) leads the Service Rental and Sales Super Late Model point standings.
The defending track champion holds a 9-point lead over 2022 Champion Dustin Jackson (#61, Sault Ste. Marie, ON) thanks in large part to back-to-back feature wins to start the season. Jordan Sims (#47, Sault Ste. Marie, ON) sits a single point behind Jackson.
Jerry Ross (#01, Echo Bay ON) has captured the checker flag in back-to-back features to start the year while holding the slimmest one point margin over JP Delpaggio (#22, Sault Ste. Marie ON) in the NAPA Reyco Modified Division. Reigning track champion, Jason Herrington (#78, Thessalon ON) holds down the 3rd place position.
It’s been a season-to-remember so far for Daniel Bibeau (#08, Sault Ste. Marie ON) in the Lakeway Automotive Factory Stock Division.
