SR. GIRLS
“LIZ LEADS THE WAY”
Liz Burrows scored 11 points and teammates Molly Watson and Makayla Tremblay each scored 10 as the Colts defeated the Wolverines 69-16. Chloe Cormier scored 7 points for the Wolverines. Korah improves to 2-0 on the season while the White Pines falls to 0-2.
JR. GIRLS
“WHEN YOU’RE HOT…..YOU’RE HOT!”
Korah’s Katie Macfarlane dropped five 3’s and scored a game-high 20 points to power the Jr. Colts to a 41-17 win over the Wolverines. Olivia Hiscock scored 7 for the Wolverines.
Coach Hoover felt both teams brought great intensity early in what was a close game at the start, but shot-making and transition offense proved to be the difference.
“In the first quarter of the game, both teams came to play. Full court presses on both ends of the court. Both teams were shooting very well and traded bucket for bucket with three-pointers and mid-range jumpers. Katie MacFarlane went 3 of 4 from deep for 9 of her 11 points in the quarter. In the third quarter, it was tough to score as both teams were playing good defense. We were able to pull away in a sloppy fourth quarter by scoring in transition.”
Despite the loss, Wolverines coach Joey Brock liked his team’s effort.
“The girls worked hard, and we’re starting to piece it all together. Defensively, when we execute, we can be tough to score against. We need to play better on defense to help generate offense on the other end of the floor.”
Korah improved to 2-0 on the young season, while White Pines fell to 0-2.
