Knights Dominate Wolverines in Week Three Junior Football Action

In week three of Sault Ste. Marie High School Junior Football action on Friday, September 19th, the St. Mary’s Knights squared off with the White Pines Wolverines in a controlled scrimmage due to injuries on the Wolverines roster at Superior Heights Field. The Knights were awarded two points in the standings and showcased a powerful performance on both sides of the ball, rolling to a 41–0 victory.

The scoring opened early in the first quarter when Dominique Kimbuli punched in a ten-yard touchdown at 5:32, with William Watts splitting the uprights on the conversion to make it 7–0. Just minutes later, Adam Provenzano broke free for a 31-yard major at 2:10, and Watts added the extra point for a 14–0 lead. Watts then added a 31-yard field goal at 3:33 of the second quarter, extending the advantage to 17–0.

With one minute left in the half, Dylan Dewar powered in from twelve yards out to increase the Knights’ lead to 24–0 after another Watts convert. Shortly after, John-Anthony Gaillonardo electrified the crowd with a 76-yard touchdown run, slipping through three tackle attempts to push the lead to 31–0 with Watts’ fourth straight conversion.

In the second half, Mason Mazzuca found open space and sprinted 45 yards to pay dirt, stretching the lead to 38–0 with another successful convert from Watts. The scoring was capped with 1:09 remaining when Watts drilled a 14-yard field goal—his second of the night—securing the commanding 41–0 Knights win.

Looking ahead, the Wolverines will meet the Korah Colts on Thursday, September 25th, while the Knights prepare for a matchup with the Superior Heights Steelhawks. Both games kick off at 4:45 p.m. at Superior Heights Field.
