In week two Sault Ste Marie High School Football action, the (1-0) Korah Colts hit the field at Superior Heights to take on the (1-0) St Mary’s Knights in senior football action.
At 6:34 of the opening quarter, St Mary’s Nate Carter found the uprights with a Knights 16 yard field goal to give St Mary’s a 3 – 0lead. With the score clock sitting at 0:00 at the end of the opening half, grade eleven Nathan Guizzetti runs for a seventy yard touchdown carry to give the Colts a 7 – 3 lead after a successful Ty Koski convert. Running for his second major of the contest and another seventy yard carry, Guizzetti brings Korah’s lead to 14 – 3 after Koski kicks his second convert of the evening at 7:58 of the second quarter. St Mary’s Nate Carter closes the gap to eight with a Knights 19 yard field goal at 3:27 of the second quarter. With the third field goal attempt of the game, Carter finds the uprights with 6.7 seconds remaining in the half to send the Knights into half down 14 – 9 with a 20 yard field goal.
22 seconds before the ten minute mark of the third quarter, St Mary’s Nik Vecchio scoops up a loose ball off of the turf to rush for a 75 yard Knight touchdown carry to give St Mary’s a 15 – 14 lead. Quarterback Matti Tucker finds Landen Trecartin for an extra two point conversion to give the Knights a 16 – 14 lead. Running for his third major of Thursday’s game on a 54 yard carry, Guizzetti brings the lead to 21 – 16 after a Koski convert at 8:35. Carter closes the gap to one with a Knights 11 yard field goal at 5:06 of the third quarter. 39 seconds after the ten minute mark of the fourth, Korah’s Ty Koski finds the uprights for a Colt 24 yard field goal to give the Colts a 24 – 20 lead. Nate Carter kicks the ball through the Colts endzone for a Knights rouge bringing the game to 24 – 21 at 6:47 of the final quarter. Finishing off a spectacular game, Guizzetti rushes for a 85 yard Colts touchdown to bring Korah’s record to 2 – 0 at 2:32 of the fourth quarter to give the Colts a 31 – 21 win with a Koski convert.

Next action for the St Mary’s Knights will be on September 22nd with a 7:30 p.m kickoff against the White Pines Wolverines while the Colts take on the Superior Heights Steelhawks on September 21st with a 7:30 p.m kickoff.
