Colts Double Up on Knights in Week Two Junior High School Football

On Thursday, September 14th at Superior Heights Field, the (1-0) St Mary’s Knights opened week two Sault Ste Marie High School football junior action when they took to the field to face the (1-0) Korah Colts.

At 7:40 of the opening quarter, AJ Coccimiglio ran for a 28 yard carry to give the Colts a 7 – 0 lead after a Coccimiglio successful convert. With 60 seconds remaining in the first quarter, St Mary’s Marcus Spadafora kicks the ball through Korah’s endzone for a rouge to bring the game to 7 – 1. Colt quarterback Zane Murdoch gives Korah a 13 – 1 lead at 9:35 of the second quarter with a four yard carry. Coccimiglio finds the uprights for his second convert of the game. After a Turner Dickinson inception at 8:01, Murdoch fires a eight yard pass in the next play of the contest to Gevin Grisdale in the Knights endzone to increase the Colts lead to 21 – 1 after a Coccimiglio convert. With 2:52 remaining in the opening half, St Mary’s Hunter Jackson carries the ball for three yard touchdown through the Colts defensive line to close the gap to 21 – 8 after a successful convert.

Peyton Melchoirre brings the Colts lead to 27 – 8 on a Korah three yard carry at the seven minute mark of the third quarter. Zane Murdoch finds Cam Williamson in the Knights endzone for a two point conversion to give Korah a 29 – 8 lead. AJ Coccimiglio kicks a 28 yard field goal at 2:03 of the final quarter to increase the Colts lead to 32 – 8. Cole Rivet runs for a one yard touchdown carry for the final major of the game with 28.4 seconds left in September 14th contest. Cole Bailey catches a Alex Hayes two convert pass to bring the final score to 32 – 16 for Colts.

Next action for the St Mary’s Knights will be on September 22nd with a 4:45 p.m kickoff against the White Pines Wolverines while the Colts take on the Superior Heights Steelhawks on September 21st with a 4:45 p.m kickoff.
