Sault Ste. Marie forward Cole Guizzetti has taken the next step in his hockey journey after being selected by the Flint Firebirds with the 52nd overall pick in the third round of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection Draft held in Kingston, Ontario on Saturday, June 13th.
The 15-year-old Guizzetti, who will celebrate his 16th birthday on June 20, has established himself as one of the most productive offensive players in his age group. Standing 5-foot-6 and weighing 155 pounds, the Sault Ste. Marie native spent the past two seasons competing with Upper Canada College’s U15 and U16 programs from 2024 to 2026.
During those two seasons, Guizzetti showcased elite offensive ability, recording an impressive 88 goals and 94 assists for 182 points while taking just two penalty minutes. His combination of speed, skill, hockey IQ, and discipline made him one of the most dangerous forwards on the ice and attracted the attention of OHL scouts throughout the province.
The Flint Firebirds used their third-round selection to secure a player who has consistently produced at every level and possesses the offensive creativity to make an impact in the Ontario Hockey League. Guizzetti’s ability to create scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates was a major factor in his rise up draft boards heading into the 2026 Priority Selection.
For Guizzetti and his family, being selected by Flint represents the reward for years of hard work and dedication to the game. It also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as he prepares to continue his development within one of the OHL’s respected organizations.
