At the John Rhodes Centre on Thursday, December 18th, the Korah Colts delivered a strong all-around performance to earn a convincing 7–1 victory over the Superior Heights Steelhawks in Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League action.
The Colts struck first midway through the opening period when Preston Miller opened the scoring at 8:09, netting his eighth goal of the season off assists from Deago Campagna and Bodie Belair to give Korah a 1–0 lead. Superior Heights responded in the second period as Carter Neabel tied the game at 1–1 with an unassisted marker at 14:40. The tie was short-lived, however, as Koen Manchulenko restored the Colts’ lead at 10:36 with his 16th of the season, assisted by Max Battacchio. With just 18 seconds remaining in the period, Campagna added to the advantage, finishing a play set up by Miller and Manchulenko to make it 3–1 heading into the third.
Korah took full control in the final frame, scoring four times. Belair made it 4–1 at 11:15, converting a feed from Campagna. Battacchio followed with his ninth of the season at 7:33, assisted by Ryan Johnson, before Tyler Lang extended the lead at 5:39 with help from Jackson Burrows and Manchulenko. Just 14 seconds later, Battacchio capped the scoring with his second of the night and 10th of the season, again set up by Manchulenko. Will Franic backstopped the Colts in goal, while Peter Gartshore tended the net for the Steelhawks.
