Colts Gallop Past Wolverines in Junior High School Action

After scoring their first twelve points of the season exactly a week ago, the White Pines Wolverines took to the turf to face the Korah Colts in junior Sault Ste Marie High School football action on Thursday, September 30th at Superior Heights.

96 seconds into the game, Jarod Dewar runs the ball for a 59 yard Colt touchdown at the 10:24 mark of the first quarter. With Ty Koski finding the upright for the Korah convert gives the Colts a 7 – 0 lead. At 7:34, Nathan Guizzetti rushes for a 39 yard touchdown for the Colts to bring their lead to 14 – 0 with a successful convert. With 1:41 remaining in the opening quarter, Erik Martone finds Coulson Bel for a 33 yard pass for # to carry the ball five yards into the Wolverines endzone to increase the lead to 21 – 0 with a Koski convert. With time ticking off the clock heading into the second quarter, Dewar scores his second major of the game on a 12 yard carry with 0.2 seconds left in the second quarter. Koski’s convert sends the Colts into second quarter up 28 – 0.

Mason Battocchio runs a Colt four yard touchdown 10:29 into the second quarter to give Korah a 34 – 0 lead. Koski notches his fifth convert of the contest to bring lead to 35 – 0. Garrin Pines finds Wolverine Tristen Holzwarth at 25.6 of the half for White Pines only major of the game. Saultsports/Domino’s Player of the Game Linden Devries kicks the convert to bring the score to 35 – 7. Korah’s Battocchio breaks three Wolverine tackles for a 16 yard Colt touchdown. With Koski’s convert, Korah leads 42 – 7 at 3:32 of the second quarter. With 6:49 remaining in Thursday’s matchup, Coulson Bell runs 102 yards for the final major of the game to give Korah a 49 – 7 win over White Pines.

White Pine coach Cody Boissoneau told Saultsports that “that is a very good ball club over there. We were aware of the challenges we we’re facing. As a staff we are trying to focus on the things we did right and correct what we did wrong. Overall, our mentality was better, the difference from week one was that we had much more bright spots, much more to work on.”

“I thought our guys dialed in early they knew they were facing a tough defense and had to execute each play in order to beat White Pines, Hats off to that team and there coaches on a hard fought game,” said Colt coach Marco Bernabucci.

“It was also important for our players to have prospective today recognizing the National day of reconciliation, with a number first players and coaches on both teams, it was very cool to see the orange on both sidelines tonight,” added Boissoneau.

Next up for the Colts will be on October 8th when they face the Superior Heights Steelhawks in a 4:45 p.m start while the Wolverines meet the St Mary’s Knights in a October 7th contest with a 6:00 p.m kickoff.
