In a Thursday night showdown under the lights, two undefeated teams went head-to-head as the Superior Heights Steelhawks (2-0) hosted the Korah Colts (2-0) in senior Sault Ste. Marie High School Football action at Superior Heights Field. What was billed as a clash of early-season heavyweights turned into a one-sided display of power, with Korah rolling to a commanding 49-7 victory.

The Colts broke through in the second quarter when Cam Williamson scored the game’s opening touchdown at 8:39. AJ Coccmiglio added the extra point for a 7-0 lead. Just two minutes later, quarterback Brett Koski connected on a 21-yard pass to Williamson, who finished off the drive with a four-yard rush to double the lead. Coccmiglio stayed perfect with the convert, making it 14-0.

At 4:15, Payton Melchiorre found daylight and sprinted 36 yards to the endzone, extending Korah’s advantage to 21-0 after Coccmiglio’s third straight kick. Williamson continued his stellar night in the third quarter with a 22-yard run for his third touchdown of the game at 10:37, pushing the score to 28-0.

Koski then went to the air again, finding Greyson Avery on a 13-yard strike at 5:03 to make it 35-0. Just moments later, Ryder Strachan capitalized on a Steelhawks fumble off the kickoff, scooping the ball at the eight-yard line and running it in for a defensive major. Coccmiglio’s kick extended the blowout to 42-0.

Superior Heights found some life late in the third quarter when quarterback Dylan Wooton broke through for a two-yard touchdown run with just 40 seconds remaining. Wooton also added the conversion to get the Steelhawks on the board at 42-7.

But Korah had the final word. At 6:41 of the fourth, Syran Foltz-Sikorski capped off the night with a three-yard touchdown run. Coccmiglio’s extra point—his seventh of the night—sealed the Colts’ emphatic 49-7 victory.

The win moves Korah to 3-0 on the season, while Superior Heights drops to 2-1.

Next up, the Colts will face the White Pines Wolverines on Thursday, September 25th, while the Steelhawks look to rebound against the St. Mary’s Knights on Friday, September 26th. Both games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. kickoffs at Superior Heights Field.
