At the John Rhodes Centre in Sault Ste Marie, the St Mary’s Knights headed into game three of the Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League City Championships against the Superior Heights Steelhawks up 2 – 0 in the best of five series on Thursday, February 23rd.
2:57 into the opening period, Darion Perrault sank the first goal of the contest behind Steelhawk netminder Tristan Tranberg to give the Knights a 1 – 0 lead with Lucas Green and Darion Pucci notching the helpers on Perrault’s goal. Nathan Palmer gave St Mary’s a 2 – 0 game three win to capture the 2023 Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League City Championship over Superior Heights. Daniel Guzzo and Adrian O’Dell drew the assists on Palmer’s goal. Knight goaltender Jaxon Alexander earned the shutout in the St Mary’s win.
St Mary’s Knight Carmine Perna was named the 2023 Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League City Championship most valuable player.

The Superior Heights Steelhawks and St Mary’s Knights will now represent Sault Ste Marie at the 2023 Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics Championships on March 6th and March 7th at the John Rhodes Centre.
