On Friday, September 12th, the Korah Colts improved to 2-0 on the season with a strong performance at Superior Heights Field, defeating the St. Mary’s Knights, who now fall to 0-2, in Sault Ste. Marie High School Senior Football action.
The Knights entered the matchup looking to rebound after a 28–18 loss to the Superior Heights Steelhawks in week one, while Korah came in riding momentum from a convincing 43–8 win over White Pines.
For St. Mary’s, Ren Levesque carried the load offensively, rushing for 111 yards on 16 carries, scoring a touchdown on the ground, and adding two receptions from quarterback Aaron Juma. Despite his efforts, the Knights couldn’t keep pace with the Colts’ ground game.
Korah once again leaned on their rushing attack. AJ Coccmiglio punched in a five-yard touchdown, while Payton Melchiorre was unstoppable, racking up 165 yards on 18 carries and finding the end zone twice to lead the Colts’ offense.
Looking ahead, the Colts will face the Superior Heights Steelhawks on Thursday, September 19th after a 31 – 24 week two win, while the Knights return to action against the White Pines Wolverines on Friday, September 19th.
