Ava Engel takes over as the Colts beat the Steelhawks in Sr. Girls Basketball action

SR. GIRLS 

KORAH VS SUPERIOR HEIGHTS

Ava Engel willed her team with a dominating performance as the Colts beat the Steelhawks 52 to 29 at Superior Heights.  Engel scored a league-high 21 points by dominating inside the paint from start to finish.  Teammate Lucy Lafrance had maybe her best game of the year, scoring 15 points and assisting on numerous baskets while leading the fast-break.  Mikayla Tremblay made her presence felt and contributed with 7 points.

For the Steelhawks, Emmalie Allard played a strong game on both sides of the floor and led the team with 9 points.  Danica Niro and Mya Ferguson rounded out the scoring with 7 and 6 points respectively.

WHITE PINES VS. ST. MARY’S

The Knights used a balanced attack enroute to a 59-15 win record over the Wolverines.  Keira Kent led all players with a game high 13. points.  Caitlin Senecal added 11 while teammates Emily Edgar and Ashlyn Noble chipped in with 10 a piece.

The Wolverines were led by their leader Chloe Cormier’s 11 points. Brooklyn Marzetti added 5.

JR. GIRLS

KORAH VS SUPERIOR HEIGHTS

The Colt’s Katie Macfarlane started hot and finished that way, scoring 20 points in the Colts 51-19 victory over the Steelhawks.  Judy Nouh had another strong game for the Yellow and White and scored 9 points.

The Steelhawks came out strong in the first quarter but could not keep that momentum going throughout the game.  Leading the Steelhawks was Scarlett Duke with 6 points.  Lily Rumiel added 4.

Colt’s head Coach David Hoover said that hustling on both ends and better ball movement on offense were two goals his team had heading into the game.

“I thought both teams started off well, each team took advantage of their opportunities early.  Kara ( Derosario), Katie and Judy really got things going for us early.  I thought our passing was much improved and I think we moved the ball better this game then we have all year.”

 

WHITE PINES VS. ST. MARY’S

Abi Jaremko had 12 points as St. Mary’s flexed their muscle in a 38-9 win over White Pines.  Tru Toms had 10 points for winners and Marissa Levesque added 6.

The Wolverines were led by Addison Hopkins’s 4 points. Sara Chapman and Ryan O’Rielly chipped in with 3 and 2 points respectively.
