At the Pullar Stadium in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the ninth-place Soo Eagles (5-12-0-1) hit the ice on Friday, October 31st, to take on the visiting fourth-place Powassan Voodoos (10-3-0-1) in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League regular season action. The two teams had met once earlier in the 2025–2026 campaign, with the Voodoos skating away with a 5–1 victory on September 13th in Powassan.
The visitors struck first at 12:28 of the opening frame when Owen Head notched his fourth of the season to give Powassan a 1–0 lead, with assists credited to Braeden Begley and Parker Bonsignore. Later in the period, Pavel Barclay added his second of the season, assisted by Ryan Saginaw, to extend the Voodoos’ lead to 2–0.
Despite generating quality scoring chances, the Eagles couldn’t solve Powassan goaltender Derrick Champagne, who turned aside all 28 shots he faced to record the shutout. Soo netminder Jace Knoerle was solid in the loss, stopping 24 of 26 shots.
With the win, the Voodoos continue to build momentum near the top of the standings. They’ll open the month of November across the river in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, when they visit the Soo Thunderbirds for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop at the John Rhodes Community Centre on Friday, November 1st.
