The U9Junior United Boys team delivered a statement performance over the August 15 – 17 weekend, claiming the Gatorade Invitational Championship title with an undefeated run that left no doubt about their dominance on the field.

With multiple players netting multi-goal games and their goalkeeper recording two shutouts while conceding just two goals all tournament, the team showcased both their offensive depth and defensive strength.

“This was a team effort from start to finish,” said Jim Clemente, head coach of the 2016 Junior United Boys team. “The players showed incredible focus, energy and teamwork all weekend long. Every single player contributed to this championship.”

The boys created their own motto for the weekend: “Hard from the start.” They brought that mindset into every match, opening with intensity and speed and maintaining that energy right to the final whistle.

The tournament featured strong competition from across the region, but the Junior United team rose to the occasion. The defense held strong under pressure, while the offense delivered explosive performances in every match.

After the final whistle of their championship win the team celebrated in true Soo style!

This victory marks a major milestone in the team’s season and builds momentum heading into the fall and their debut in the Mid Michigan Youth Soccer League.
