U16 Sabercats Look to Build on Momentum as Thunder Visit Sault Ste. Marie

The third-place U16 Sault Sabercats (3-0-1) will play their second-last regular season home game of the 2026 campaign on Saturday, June 20th, when they welcome the sixth-place Scarborough Thunder (2-3) to Sault Ste. Marie for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.

The Sabercats enter the contest with momentum following an impressive 35-0 victory over the visiting Quinte Skyhawks. Meanwhile, the Thunder will be looking to rebound after suffering a 30-0 road loss against the York Lions.

“We are happy with where we are at this point in the season,” said Sabercats head coach Monico. “Our defense has been stellar, playing an aggressive and physical brand of football. Last week, we ran the ball well, and we would like to see more consistency from our passing game moving forward.”

Despite the difference in the standings, Coach Monico expects a tough challenge from the visitors.

“Scarborough will present a significant challenge,” added Monico. “They are a big, athletic team, and we will need to play our best game of the season to be successful. Our most important game is always the next one, so our focus remains on taking care of business on Saturday.”

Fans unable to attend the game can catch all the action live beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saultsports TV and True North Sports Radio.
