The U13 Eye Deal Optical team from the Sault Female Hockey Association enjoyed a perfect weekend in Cambridge, Ontario, capturing championship honours at the 2026 30th Annual Cambridge Roadrunner Tournament held from January 16th to 18th.
Eye Deal Optical opened tournament play bright and early on Friday morning, January 16th, with an 8:15 a.m. matchup against the Upper Maitland Mustangs. The Sault squad set the tone immediately, delivering a dominant 5–0 shutout victory to start the weekend on a strong note.
Later that day, Eye Deal Optical returned to the ice to face the host Cambridge Roadrunners in the evening showcase game. Continuing their strong play, the Sault representatives controlled the pace and earned another convincing 5–0 shutout, closing out Friday undefeated and without allowing a goal.
Saturday morning action saw Eye Deal Optical tested by a tough London Devilettes squad. In a tightly contested matchup, Eye Deal Optical edged London 2–1, showing resilience and strong defensive structure. The team followed up later in the day with a 2–0 win over the Oakville Hornets, securing their spot in the championship game with a perfect round-robin record.
Championship Sunday featured a rematch with the London Devilettes at 9:00 a.m., and once again Eye Deal Optical rose to the occasion. With disciplined play and timely scoring, the Sault team earned a 2–0 victory to claim the tournament title, completing the weekend with five straight wins and four shutouts.
