Over the Friday, March 24 to Sunday 25th weekend, seven U11 Northern Ontario Women Hockey League converged on Sault Ste Marie, Ontario to take part in their 2023 post season tournament at the Northern Community Centre. The U11 programs that took part in this season’s tournament in Sault Ste Marie were the Kapuskasing Jaguars, Sudbury Lady Wolves, Timmins Falcons, North Bay Ice Boltz, Hearst Ice Cats, Temiskaming Shores Puckhounds and the hosts, Soo Jr Greyhounds.
With both the Soo Jr Greyhounds and North Bay Ice Boltz finishing the U11 Northern Ontario Women Hockey League round robin undefeated with records of 3 – 0, the Greyhounds would meet in the championship game on Sunday, March 26th. After a hrad fought gold medal game at Northern Community Centre in Sault Ste Marie, the North Bay Ice Boltz were crowned the 2023 NOWHL champions with a 2 – 1 win over the Greyhounds.
The U11 Greyhounds will now prepare for their 2023 Ontario Women Hockey Association Provincials in Toronto, Ontario from April – 13 – 16th.
