Stith Tabbed as Next LSSU Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

The Lake Superior State (LSSU) Athletic Department has selected Matt Stith as the next men’s and women’s cross country and track & field coach, as announced by LSSU Athletic Director Tory Lindley on Friday, September 20th.

Stith brings 30 years of coaching experience with him to the Soo, including his most recent stint as the head coach track & field coach at Elizabeth Forward High School in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.

While at Elizabeth Forward, Stith coached several athletes that would go on to compete at NCAA DI, NCAA DII, NAIA, and JUCO programs, including multiple collegiate conference champions and one All-American.

Under his leadership, the Elizabeth Forward boys track & field team were able to capture two consecutive sectional titles (2022, 23) which were the first section titles for the program in 26 years, defying the odds while having the lowest enrollment among all AAA schools in their district. He was also able to secure a pair of sectional titles for the cross country programs after 20+ year droughts.
