On Wednesday, November 19th at the John Rhodes Community Centre, the second place Superior Heights Steelhawks improved to 5-0 with a commanding victory over the fifth place CASS Huskies in Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League play. The Steelhawks’ high-powered offence took control early and never looked back, powered by a standout four-point performance from Avery Fowler, who continues to be a major contributor in Superior Heights’ undefeated start to the season.
In the first period, the Steelhawks come out firing with Superior Heights setting the tone early with relentless pressure in the opening frame.
At 14:24, Carter Neabel opened the scoring with his second of the season, finishing a setup from William Zuke and Alex Hoffe. Less than three minutes later at 11:26, Ty Cond added to the lead with his third of the year, assisted by Colton McLean.
On the powerplay at 8:46, the Steelhawks continued to roll. Avery Fowler scored his second of the season, converting a feed from Ayden Hamilton and Oliver Austin to make it 3–0.
Neabel closed out the period with his second of the night at 1:17, burying a chance created by Hoffe and Cameron Knox. Superior Heights headed into the intermission up 4–0 and firmly in control.
During the second the Steelhawks extend lead with Fowler adding another one.
Superior Heights wasted no time keeping the momentum going. At 13:55, Chase Cerasuolo scored his first of the season, set up by McLean and Knox.
CASS broke the shutout at 10:47 when Logan McAulay found the back of the net for his second of the year, assisted by Owen Kelly and Carter Pritchard, giving the Huskies a spark.
But the Steelhawks responded quickly and emphatically.
At 5:57, Cond added his second of the night and fourth of the season, assisted by Drew Hankinson. Just over a minute later at 4:30, Cond completed the natural hat trick, converting a pass from Hamilton with Avery Fowler adding an assist on the play.
Fowler capped off a dominant second period for Superior Heights at 00:31, scoring his third of the season with help from Hankinson — marking his third point of the night and solidifying his offensive impact.
Tthe third period was Fowler complete a four-point contest with the Steelhawks firmly in control, Fowler struck again. At 6:03, he scored his fourth of the season — and fourth point of the game — off a setup by Hamilton, continuing his outstanding performance.
At 3:45, Alex Hoffe added another for Superior Heights, scoring his second of the year with assists from Neabel and Zuke to round out the scoring in a dominant effort.
Between the pipes, Riley Orris backstopped the Steelhawks, while Jack Unetic handled goaltending duties for the Huskies during the midweek matchup.
Looking ahead the CASS Huskies comes on November 23rd, when they face the St. Mary’s Knights at the John Rhodes Centre in a 6:30 p.m. start. The Superior Heights Steelhawks return to high school hockey play on November 30th, also at the John Rhodes Centre, with puck drop scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
