The Soo U16 Greyhounds made the most of a rare midweek road trip on Wednesday, November 19th, skating to a 3–2 victory over the Sudbury U18 Wolves in GNU18HL action at Countryside Arena.

The Greyhounds wasted little time setting the tone. At 9:29 of the first, Ethan Farquharson buried his fourth of the season on the powerplay, finishing a setup from Ashton Neufeld and Rocco Dos Reis to open the scoring. Just over two minutes later, Dos Reis added to the lead with his fourth of the year, converting a feed from Simon McLean and Reegan Dezordo to make it 2–0 Soo after twenty minutes.

Early in the second, the Greyhounds extended their lead on another powerplay marker. At 1:34, Ethan Cress notched his second of the season off a clean passing sequence from Preston Gioia and Benjamin McKinlay, pushing the Soo ahead 3–0.

Sudbury responded shortly after when Denver Mulligan struck at 4:53, converting a pass from Jonathan Tripodi to pull the Wolves back within two.

The Wolves continued to press in the third, and at 10:46, Gillis O’Daiskey capitalized on a powerplay chance with help from Mulligan and Robert Landry, cutting the Greyhounds’ lead to 3–2. But that was as close as Sudbury would get.

Soo goaltender Phoenix Bell stood tall in the late stages, securing the win, while Sudbury’s Jayden Claveau took the loss.

With the victory, the U16 Greyhounds now return home for a busy weekend at the John Rhodes Community Centre. They’ll host the Sudbury U18 Wolves on Saturday, November 22nd at 3:00 p.m, followed by a Sunday, November 23rd matchup at 1:00 p.m against the visiting New Liskeard Cubs.
