The 2024-2025 Sault Ste. Marie Girls High School Hockey League season kicked off with an exciting 2-2 draw between the Superior Heights Steelhawks and CASS Huskies at the Northern Community Centre. Both teams showcased their talents, but it was the performances of goaltenders Cassidy Cooke of the Huskies and Maika Steinburg of the Steelhawks that truly stole the show. Cooke and Steinburg stood tall between the pipes, each making a series of key saves to keep their teams in the game.
The contest was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging goals, but neither able to break the deadlock. In a fast-paced, hard-fought opener, the goaltenders’ resilience was the highlight, keeping the game tied and setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
