As the 2025 Sault Ste Marie High School junior football season approaches, the St. Mary’s Knights are gearing up with high expectations and a solid foundation on both sides of the ball. With several key players returning and a promising crop of young talent on the way, the Knights are poised to be a force this fall.

Offensively, the Knights bring back some serious firepower at the skill positions. Adam Provenzano, Dylan Dewar, and Dom Kimbulal are all expected to play major roles in the team’s offensive attack. Each brings a different element to the field—speed, hands, and versatility—that will challenge opposing defenses. At quarterback, Reegan Dezerdo the coaching staff is thrilled to have him back leading the offense. With a year of experience under his belt, Dezerdo is set to take a big step forward in his development and command of the game.

In the trenches, everything starts with the line—and the Knights are in great shape. Zach Pelletier and Jacob Riberty return to anchor the offensive line, bringing toughness, leadership, and stability to the unit. Their presence gives the Knights a strong foundation to build on, both in protecting the quarterback and opening up lanes for the run game.

Defensively, St. Mary’s has some playmakers ready to make their mark. Mason Mazzucca, Ashton Neufeld, Luke Cady, and Cole Forsyth are all returning with big-game experience and the potential to be game-changers. Fast, physical, and smart, this core group will be counted on to set the tone and lead by example on the defensive side of the ball.

Looking to the future, the junior Knights program is generating major buzz at St Mary’s College. A standout group of incoming grade nines has the coaching staff excited about what’s to come. With talent and energy arriving at just the right time, the Knights’ future looks as strong as their present.

“We are looking forward to a competitive season! Superior Heights was a young team last year and they have a lot of really good returning players. Coach Klooster and his stafff always have them prepared and are fun to play against. Always a great battle. White Pines has some really good players coming back. They might have the best lineman in the league in Lain Sayers. They have more kids going there from SMFL then they’ve had in the past and they are a well coached team. Football is better when White Pines fields a team. We are excited to match up with them again. Korah’s, Korah. Everyone knows what they bring to the table each week. Booch and his staff do a great job and it’s always a challenge playing them. I’m excited for the season! It’ll be fun and the Knights will be ready to roll, added coach Tony Boniferro.

With experienced leaders, exciting skill position players, and a wave of young talent ready to rise, St. Mary’s is setting the stage for a big 2025 campaign—and the Knights are ready to make some noise.
