Soo U18AA Greyhounds Fall Short with a Semi Final Loss to Hurricanes in Thunder Bay

Over the November 7th to 10th weekend in Thunder Bay at the 2024 Icebreaker Tournament, the Soo U18AA Greyhounds had an impressive run in the round-robin portion of their tournament, finishing undefeated with three straight victories. They kicked off their campaign with a strong opening 4 – 3 win against the West End Bruins, followed by another dominant performance to 3 – 2 defeat the Fort William Canadiens. The momentum continued as they secured a decisive 2 – 0 shutout win over the Bearcats, solidifying their place at the top of the standings. In the quarter-finals, they faced the Fort William Canadiens once more and emerged victorious with a 2 – 1 win, advancing to the semi-finals with confidence. However, their journey came to an end there, as they were narrowly defeated 4 – 3 by the Fort William Hurricanes, ultimately falling short of a championship berth. Despite the semi-final loss, the Greyhounds’ remarkable performance throughout the tournament showcased their skill, determination, and competitive spirit.

Next up for the U18AA greyhounds will be in Sault Ste Marie on Saturday, November 23rd when they play host to the Nickel City U16AA at 12:00 p.m and 4:30 p.m at the John Rhodes Centre.
