Over the Friday, January 27th to Sunday, January 29th weekend, the Soo U10AA Greyhounds took to the ice to join seven other U10 hockey programs from throughout the province of Ontario in Newmarket for the 2023 International Silverstick Tournament.
In six game at the 2023 International Silverstick Tournament, Rafael Fata and Lucca D’Agostini led the Soo U10AA Greyhounds with seven points each with Fata scoring one goal and adding six assists while D’Agostini finding the back of the three times and contributing on four Soo U10AA Greyhounds. Tatum Ruffolo and Asher Caswell appeared between the pipes for the Soo U10AA Greyhounds in three games apiece and each only allowing four goals each in Newmarket.
Soo U10AA Greyhounds coach Kyle Jones told Saultsports that “overall, we’re happy with the kids battled all weekend. I’m gutted for the boys because we know it wasn’t the result they wanted, but we’re proud of their efforts & we can take away a lot of positives.”
“We ran into a good team Sunday morning (Oakland) and they deserve a lot of credit. It was a hard fought game.” added Jones.
