Both teams were strong on the hill on Tuesday, June 18th, but the Black Sox defeated EUP Woodducks 3-2. Nolan Toni started the game for the Soo Black Sox and recorded 19 outs.
The Black Sox opened the scoring in the second after Connor Bruzas grounded out, scoring one run. The Soo added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Keyton Mousseau singled, and Carter Young hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Toni earned the win for the Black Sox. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over six and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. E Chambers took the loss for EUP Woodducks. The starting pitcher went four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking none. Cole Masse collected the save.
Mousseau and Young were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for the Soo. Masse led the Black Sox with two hits in three at bats. Chambers and M Bontrager were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for EUP Woodducks. Bontrager provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led EUP Woodducks with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day.

Next up for the Black Sox will be a doubleheader when the Soo heads south of the border to Rudyard with game times of 4:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m on Wednesday, June 19th.
