Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club is proud to be hosting the 2027 Bill Gairdner Canadian Masters Cross Country Ski Championship from February 11-14, 2027 at Hiawatha Highlands in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The event will welcome Masters athletes (age 30+) from across Canada to
compete and will also serve as the 2027 Ontario Masters Cross Country Ski Championship.
“We are excited to announce that we will be hosting five races for the event,” said Chief of Competition, Cassandra Nielsen. “Friday will see two interval start races, a 5 km classic race in the morning and a 5 km free technique race in the afternoon. On Saturday, there will be a 10
km/20 km classic mass start in the morning and a fun mixed gender/mixed technique 4 x 2 km relay in the afternoon. A 10 km/20 km mass start free technique race will close the championship weekend on Sunday morning.”
The organizing committee is hoping that local masters skiers come out and participate in this national event. To help get local racers prepared, the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club is offering a Masters program Wednesday nights in October for dryland training and on skis once the snow flies.
