The 2026 Sault Ste. Marie Boys High School Volleyball season officially got underway on Wednesday, September 23, with four local teams taking to the court. The St. Mary’s Knights opened their season against the Notre Dame Voyageurs, while the Superior Heights Steelhawks faced the Korah Colts in the other matchup.
St. Mary’s and Notre Dame battled through an exciting five-set match, with the Knights eventually coming away with a 3-2 victory. St. Mary’s took the opening two sets 25-21 and 25-15, but the Voyageurs responded by winning the next two sets 25-19 and 25-9 to force a deciding fifth set. The Knights regained control in the final set, winning 15-7 to secure the season-opening victory.
In the other matchup, the Superior Heights Steelhawks defeated the Korah Colts 3-1 to begin their 2026 campaign with a win. With the opening night of action now complete, teams will turn their attention to the next round of games on Monday, September 28. Notre Dame will visit the White Pines Wolverines, while the St. Mary’s Knights travel to Korah Collegiate to face the Korah Colts.
