At the 2026 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Wrestling Championships, held March 3rd and 4th at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in Peterborough, Ontario, student-athletes from Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma region high schools delivered impressive performances on the provincial stage.
All five local high schools were represented at the 2026 OFSAA Championships, with more than 20+ wrestlers competing against the best in Ontario. Several Soo and Algoma athletes battled their way to podium finishes, showcasing the continued strength of wrestling programs in the North.
Leading the way for the Superior Heights Steelhawks, Sarah Cariati earned a sixth-place finish in the 83kg division, Sol Hayward captured fourth place at 57.5kg, and Mich Lynn secured a strong third-place bronze medal finish in the 41kg weight class.
From St. Mary’s College, Michaela Kyle placed sixth in the 72kg division, while Kali Montgomery also finished sixth at 54kg, both competing hard in deep provincial brackets.
Representing the White Pines Wolverines, Delina Saccorotti battled to a sixth-place finish in the 115kg division.
The CASS Huskies saw Abby Vine climb the podium with an impressive third-place finish in the 67.5kg weight class.
Competing at OFSAA is an accomplishment in itself, and these podium performances highlight the dedication, preparation, and resilience of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma wrestlers on Ontario’s biggest high school stage.
