Over the January 16th and 17th weekend, the Sault College Cougars took to the court in search of their first victory of the 2025–2026 season as they hosted the Redeemer Royals on campus in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) women’s volleyball action.

The two-game series opened on Friday, January 16th, with the Cougars showing early promise in front of their home crowd. Sault College claimed the opening set 25–20, setting the tone for what looked to be a competitive matchup. However, the Royals responded with strong play at the net and consistent serving, taking the next three sets by scores of 25–16, 25–20, and 25–17 to secure a 3–1 victory.

Saturday’s rematch on January 17th saw the Redeemer Royals carry their momentum into the second contest. Redeemer controlled much of the match, winning the first two sets 25–20, 25–17, and fourth set 25–15. The Cougars continued to battle and avoided the sweep by capturing the third set 25–14, but the Royals closed out another 3–1 win to complete the weekend sweep.

Despite the results, the Cougars showed stretches of competitiveness and resilience as they continue to gain valuable experience early in the season. Sault College will now turn its attention to the road, travelling to Hamilton, Ontario, on January 24th and 25th to face the Mohawk Mountaineers as they look to break into the win column.
