At the John Rhodes Centre on Thursday, February 1st, the Korah Colts took to the ice to face the Superior Heights Steelhawks in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action.
2:48 into the opening period, Korah’s Bodie Belair finds the back of Steelhawk goaltender Tyler Greco’s net for his fifth of the season to give the Colts 1 – 0 lead. Dae Wood and Nathan Guizietti drew the helpers on Belair’s goal. Sinking his first of the season, Donny Hernden gives the Colts a 2 – 0 lead with Deago Campagna and Preston Miller registered the contributors on Korah’s second goal of the contest at 4:12 of the first. With the Colts on a powerplay, Preston Miller found the back of Greco’s net for his sixth of the season to bring the lead to 3 – 0 at the 11:04 mark of the second period. Owen Avery notched the lone assist on Miller’s goal. 16 seconds later, Luca Venneri fires the Colts fourth of the game at 10:52 with Miller adding the helper on Venneri’s second of the season.
Scoring unassisted, Superior Heights’ Cole Cond closed the gap to three at 11:17 of the third for his fourth of the season behind Korah netminder Payton Melchoirre. At 5:50 of the period, Owen Avery scores his second of the season to increase Korah’s lead to 5 – 1 with Koen Manchulenko and Tyler Lang had the assists on Avery’s goal. 30 seconds later, Campagna sank his sixth of the season behind Greco for Korah’s final goal of the game to give the Colts a 6 – 1 lead at 5:50. Tucker Deschamps and Miller contributed to Campagna’s goal. With 47 seconds remaining in Thursday’s matchup, Cond finds the back of Melchoirre’s net for the Steelhawks second of the game.
