Owen Case Four Goals Gives Steelhawks a 1 – 0 Semi-Final Series Lead

At the John Rhodes Centre, the second place Korah Colts took to the ice to meet the third place Superior Heights Steelhawks to open the Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League best of three semi – final series on Wednesday, February 15th.

With the Steelhawks on a powerplay, Owen Case finds the back of Korah netminder Troy Rossetto’s net to give Superior Heights a 1 – 0 lead. Connor Ouimette and Tristan Gioia notched the contributors on Case’s powerplay marker at 6:34 of the first. Connor Chow – Lynn evens the game 1 – 1 for the Colts at 5:19 with Mason Battocchio and Kaylob Thibodeau drawing the assists on Chow – Lynn’s tying goal. Scoring his second powerplay goal of the contest was Superior Heights Owen Case at the 3:17 mark with Gioia and Dylan Murphy setting up the Steelhawks go-ahead goal. With 2:09 left in the period, Kaylob Thibodeau finds the back of Steelhawk goaltender Tristan Tranberg to pull the Colts even 2 – 2 with Ronan Provenzano and Chow – Lynn registering the helpers on Thibodeau’s powerplay goal.

4:22 into the middle stanza, Thibodeau gives Korah a 3 – 2 lead with his second of the game. Battocchio added the contributor on Thibodeau’s third point of the game. Tying the game 3 – 3 and registering a hat trick for Superior Heights with his third powerplay goal of the contest was Owen Case at 4:01 of the second with Gioia and Murphy contributing on Case’s goal. Matthew Johnson scores Superior Heights fourth of the game to give the Steelhawks a 4 – 3 lead on a powerplay at 5:38 of the final period with Michael Wiest and Cameron Hernden drawing the assists on Johnson’s powerplay goal.  With only 72 seconds remaining in game one of the semi 0 final series, Thibodeau registers a hat trick with the Colts tying goal unassisted. Owen Case sinks his fourth of the game to give Superior Heights a 1 – 0 lead in the best of three series in the Steelhawks 5 – 4 win over the Colts.

Game two of the best of three series will take place on Thursday, February 16th at the John Rhodes Centre in a 3:30 p.m start.
