Ahead of the upcoming 2026 OUA soccer season, the Algoma University Thunderbirds are proud to officially announce the hiring of Ali Kordi as the new Head Coach of the women’s soccer program.
Ali brings with him a strong coaching background having most recently been with the Langley United Soccer Association as the Head Coach of the U16 Boys program and Assistant Coach of their League 1 BC Premier League Men’s team.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ali into this new role within Algoma University Athletics,” said Rachel Rankin, Director, Student Life & Ancillary Services.”Student-athletes can expect a coach who is passionate, supportive, and committed to excellence.”
“I keep a fun and focused atmosphere. I’ll always be honest, fair, and understanding – but I also set the bar high because I believe in our athletes,” he said.
To the broader campus and community, Ali had this message: “I’m excited to start this new chapter with the Algoma Thunderbirds family. I look forward to seeing all of the community support as we continue to build something special here in Sault Ste. Marie together.”
