Manchulenko Sinks Two to Help Lift the Colts Past the Knights in High School Action

After a 4 – 1 contest between the St Mary’s Knights and the Korah Colts on Sunday, January 21st with the Knights coming out on top with the win, the Knights and Colts returned to action on Monday, January 22nd at the Northern Community Centre in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action.

At 5:53 of the first period, Koen Manchulenko sank the opening goal for the Colts behind Knight goaltender Grant Matthewson to give Korah a 1 – 0 lead. Bodie Belair had the lone assist on Manchulenko’s goal. With 28 seconds left in the period, Hunter Thorkilson sends the Colts into the first intermission up 2 – 0 with Korah’s Owen Avery notching the helper on Thorkilson’s goal. Scoring the lone goal of the second period at 4:29, St Mary’s Carter Doucette finds the back of Korah netminder Kylan Roy’s net to pull the Knights within one. Jagar Vommaro drew the contributor on Doucette’s goal. Manchulenko gives the Colts a 3 – 1 lead with his second of the game at 11:20 of the third with Ethan Ferguson adding the assist on Korah’s third goal of the game. 56 seconds before the ten minute mark of the period, Darian Pucci closes the gap to one of the Knights with Anthony Blonda drawing the helper on Pucci’s goal. With one second remaining in Monday’s contest, Deago Campagna scored Korah fourth of the game unassisted to give the Colts a 4 – 2 win.

Next up for the Knights will be back to back games with St Mary’s facing the Superior Heights Steelhawks on Wednesday, January 24th in a 3:30 p.m start followed by a Sunday, January 28th contest at 7:00 p.m against the Korah Colts. Both games will take place at the John Rhodes Centre.
