Lake Superior Figure Skating Club Figure Skaters Prepare for Competition On Friday November 25, 2022 the Lake Super Figure Skating Club figure skaters hosted a simulation night giving the figure skaters an opportunity to skate their programs in a competition-like setting in preparation for the Nickle Blades on Ice Skate Ontario
Provincial Series competition December 2-4, 2022.
Simulations are an important part of training for figure skaters as it helps the athletes develop the necessary mental and physical skills that can be transferred to competition.
The goal of the simulation sessions is to make it feel as close to the feeling of competition environment as possible. This helps to build their confidence and prepare for the event.
The figure skaters are set to hit the ice for an exciting competition season this year, they haven’t had a regular season in two years as last year many competition opportunities were canceled due to COVID. There are 19 figure skaters representing the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club attending the Nickle Blades on Ice ranging from Star 2 to Gold and Pre Juvenile. For some skaters this will be their first figure skating competition.
The event is both a qualifier for Provincials and it is also hosting some non-qualifying events.
