Korah’s Kaylob Thibodeau Registers Four Points in Midweek Clash Over the Steelhawks

With their third game in three days, the third place Superior Heights Steelhawks took to the ice at the John Rhodes Centre to face the second place Korah Colts in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action on Wednesday, February 8th.

Clark Parker opened the scoring with 67 seconds remaining in the first with a Steelhawk powerplay goal behind Colt netminder Troy Rossetto to give Superior Heights a 1 – 0 lead. Ray Rumiel and Owen Case drew the helpers on Parker’s powerplay goal. At 11:32 of the second, Mason Battocchio even the game 1 – 1 for the Colts with a goal behind Steelhawk goaltender Tyler Greco. Dylan Garson and Jack Metcalf added the contributors on Battocchio’s goal. Scoring their second powerplay marker at 11:13 of the third, Owen Case finds the back of Rossetto’s net with Tristan Gioia and Connor Ouimette to give Superior Heights a 2 – 1 lead. Korah’s Kaylob Thibodeau ties the game 2 – 2 at the 10:22 mark of the period with Connor Chow-Lynn registering the lone helper on Thibodeau’s goal. Battocchio sinks the go-ahead goal for Korah at 7:57 with Brady Bayles and Thibodeau setting up Battocchio’s second of the contest. Case fires the tying goal 7:53 into the second with Gavin Darlow and Parker drawing the assists.

At 6:15 of the period, Bayles finds the back of the Steelhawks net to give the Colts a 4 – 3 lead with Thibodeau adding the contributor on Bayles goal. Scoring an unassisted goal for the Colts at 1:20 was Korah’s Thibodeau to bring the lead to 5 – 3. With 45 seconds remaining in the midweek clash at the John Rhodes, Metcalf registered his second point of the game with the Colts final goal of the game with Luca Venneri and Battocchio notching the helpers.

Next action for the Colts will be on Thursday, February 9th when they face the first place St Mary’s Knights in a 3:30 p.m puck drop at the John Rhodes Centre while the Steelhawks meet the Knights on Monday, February 13th in a 3:30 p.m start at the John Rhodes Centre.
