Korah Colts Sweep City Titles as Junior and Senior Girls Capture 2025 City Championships

On Friday, November 7th, the Korah Colts basketball program made it a championship sweep at the 2025 Sault Ste. Marie High School City Finals. Both the junior and senior Korah Colts girls teams claimed city titles, defeating the St. Mary’s Knights in their respective championship games at Superior Heights.

In the junior final, the Korah Colts capped off an outstanding season by defeating the St. Mary’s Knights 52–38, clinching both the City Championship and League Championship titles for 2025. Molly Filice led the Colts’ charge with a dominant 28-point performance, while Arabella MacLachlan added 11 points. For the Knights, Blake Magli netted 15 and Madelyn Pavoni contributed 13 in a strong effort.

The Colts will now advance to AA/AAA NOSSA next weekend in Sudbury, where they’ll represent Sault Ste. Marie against the region’s best.

The winning continued for Korah in the senior division, as the Colts defeated the St. Mary’s Knights 39–24 to capture the 2025 City Championship. Claire Hill paced Korah with 12 points, followed by Shelbee Agawa with 11. For St. Mary’s, Mady Perhonen led all scorers with 14 points.

Both senior girls programs, the Knights and Colts, will represent Sault Ste. Marie at AA/AAA NOSSA in Sudbury next weekend, while the White Pines Wolverines will compete in the ‘A’ NOSSA Championships in both junior and senior divisions on the North Shore.

It was a memorable day for Korah basketball — a city championship sweep that showcased the strength and depth of the Colts program heading into provincial play.
