At the John Rhodes Centre in an action-packed contest on Friday, December 5th, as the second place St. Mary’s Knights (6-3-1) squared off against the fifth place CASS Huskies (2-8-0-1) in Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League action. The Knights, looking to stay near the top of the standings, delivered a strong offensive performance to secure the victory, while the Huskies refused to go quietly in an entertaining back-and-forth affair.
The opening period featured a flurry of goals from both sides. St. Mary’s struck first at 8:02 when Bates Borelli notched his third of the season unassisted. CASS responded quickly at 4:13, as Carter Pritchard buried his third of the year off a setup from Carson McCracken and Noah Smith. The Knights regained the lead moments later at 2:34, with Beau Primeau scoring his tenth of the campaign on a feed from Ethan Agawa. But the Huskies surged back late in the frame—Jack McGonegal tied the game at 00:53, assisted by Smith and Pritchard, before Pritchard added his second of the night just 46 seconds later at 00:07, giving CASS a 3–2 lead after an eventful first period.
In the second, the Knights took over. At 10:50, Hunter Jackson tallied his eighth of the season with Agawa picking up another assist. Just 43 seconds later, Primeau struck again—his eleventh of the year—once more set up by Agawa, who finished the night with a standout three-assist performance. The Knights’ quick offensive burst flipped the momentum and sent them into the final frame ahead 4–3.
St. Mary’s sealed the win at 8:14 of the third period when Borelli scored his second of the game and fourth of the season, this time assisted by Jarrett Solomon, giving the Knights a 5–3 cushion they would not surrender.
