Coming off a 5 – 3 loss on Wednesday, January 4th to the Korah Colts, the Superior Heights Steelhawks took to the ice to face the St Mary’s Knights on Thursday, January 5th in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action at the John Rhodes Centre.

At 7:05 of the second period, Connor Ouimette finds the back of the Knight goaltender Jaxon Alexander to give the Steelhawks a 1 – 0 lead with Owen Case registering the lone helper on Ouimette’s powerplay goal. Carmine Perna sinks the tying goal for St Mary’s with a goal behind Superior Heights netminder Tristan Tranberg at 6:07. Jack McPherson and Gabe Zimbaro notched the contributors on Perna’s tying goal. Gabe Zimbaro fires the go- ahead goal at the 4:42 unassisted to give the Knights a 2 – 1 lead. Thirty seconds after his unassisted goal, Zimbaro scores his second of the contest at the 4:12 mark of the second with Daniel Bumbaco and Daniel Guzzo adding the assists. Connor Ouimette sinks the final goal of the game at 1:43 of the of the game for his second of the matchup with Ray Rumiel and Brady DesChene set up Ouimette’s goal.

The Knights next contest will be Monday, January 9th against the Korah Colts in a 3:30 p.m start at the John Rhodes Centre while the Steelhawks take on the Colts on Wednesday, January 16th in a 3:30 p.m puck drop at the John Rhodes Centre.
