Sault athletes returned from NOSSA badminton on April 27th and 28th in North Bay, Ontario with some excellent results.
St. Mary’s junior team had a strong showing and took home the Junior Division title. They were led by Candon O’Neill who won the Men’s Singles Division and Anthony Niro and Vedant Ughadgapa, who won Men’s Doubles. Also in junior, Emily Batman and Dhavani Lakdawala from Korah placed second in Ladies Doubles and Niyati Patel from Korah placed third in Ladies Singles. Divine Love and Claire Gould from Superior Heights also placed third in Mixed Doubles.
In the Novice Division, Dylan Wootton was tops, winning the Men’s Singles Division title.
In the senior division, Grace Elliott and Delaney Elliott from Korah finished third in Ladies Doubles. Daniel Guzzo from St. Mary’s, placed third in Men’s Singles. As the top high school athlete in the division, he will be the lone athlete to represent Sault Ste. Marie at the OFSAA Championships, May 11-13th in Port Hope, Ontario.
