On Friday, October 15th, the St Mary’s Knights and Korah Colts hit the turf in Sault Ste Marie High School Senior Football action at Superior Heights in the final game of the 2021 regular season.
At 4:05 of the opening quarter, Korah’s Jack Tuckett finds the uprights for a 24 yard field goal to give the Colts a 3 – 0 lead. With 27.5 seconds remaining in the first, Jesse Burella rushes into the Knights endzone with a 31 yard carry to bring the lead to 9 – 0. Tuckett convert was unsuccesful. Scoring his second major of Friday’s contest, Burella runs for a 46 yard carry to bring the Colts lead to 16 – o. Tuckett kicked a convert for Korah to add another point to Korah’s lead at 9:16 of the second quarter. At 8:44, St Mary’s Kyle Scarfone kicks the ball out of their own Knights endzone to give the Colts a one point safety to increase the lead to 18 – 0. Michael Nicoletta found the Knights endzone with a Colt carry for Korah’s fourth touchdown of the game at 5:25. With 1:29 remaining in the half, Daniel Bumbacco scored a field goal from the 26 yard line to close the gap to 25 – 3 for the Knights.
Michael Flumian carries a one yard Colt touchdown carry at 8:42 of the third quarter. Tuckett kicks a convert to give Korah a 32 – 3 lead. Speedy Christian Omollo runs along the sideline and eludes four tackles at 7:38 for St Mary’s first major of the contest. Bumbacco finds the upright for a Knights convert. On the kickoff from Knight Bumbacco after Omollo’s touchdown, Elijah Plastino kneels in the Colts endzone to concede one point to bring the score to 32 – 11. 5:55 into the third, St Mary’s quarterback Kyle Scarfone finds Bumbacco with a 38 yard pass for Bumbacco evading three tackles by the Colts to bring the Knights to 32 – 18 with a Bumbacco successful convert. After a Ronan Provenzano four yard touchdown carry and Tuckett convert at 1:11 of the third, Korah’s lead increases to 39 -18. 3:07 into the final quarter, Tuckett kicks a field goal to add three points to the Colts lead to bring the lead to 42 – 18. Burella scores his third major of the game to give Korah a 49 – 18 win with a Tuckett convert.
Knights coach Jim Monico told Saultsports that “we’re continuing to improve. Lots of work to do still . We’ll have to work this week in practice to get ready for Superior Heights for the 2021 senior semifinal.”

The Colts will earn a bye to the 2021 City Senior Championships on October 29 while the Knights will meet the Superior Heights Steelhawks on October 22 in a 7:30 p.m senior semifinal clash.
