The Algoma Thunderbird men’s soccer program is pleased to announce that Inioluwa Owolabi has committed to their Soccer program for the 2024 – 2025 season.
Inioluwa lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba and attends Glenlawn Collegiate. Inioluwa has played soccer his whole life but never really got into it until he moved to Canada in 2018. This is when he found his true love and passion for the sport and has never looked back. He started playing with the St. Charles Force in 2018 and then transferred to the Bonivital Soccer Club.
Inioluwa was on the Highschool City and Provincial Championship teams in 2023. As well, he was on the U17 City and Provincial Champion teams. He also was on the MSA Cup winning team which qualified for the 2023 Toyota National Championship. He was also on the Bonivital SC team which won the NSC Showcase in Blaine Minnesota.
His other interests and hobbies are watching movies, listening to music, playing basketball as well as cooking.
Inioluwa will be starting his degree in Computer Science at Algoma University.
Inioluwa says he “chose Algoma, because I see a future there, a future of rebuild and great achievements, because I believe in the coaches mentality, and the mentality of the group of players I will be playing with and fighting with to achieve a greater goal. I chose Algoma due to their strong Computer Science program, how deep and in depth their program goes, even to smaller classes that help with a more intimate, better understanding and experiences with Professors. In a nutshell, I opted for Algoma University, because they provide a holistic program that embodies my academic/athletic goals.”
Head Coach of Men’s Soccer David Andreychuk says: “Ini is a beast on the field, very strong and physical. He will definitely bring the desire and work rate we are looking for here at Algoma U. We are excited to bring him to Algoma and make him apart of our community.”
