High Scores and Special Awards for Elite Dance Force Teams

The Elite Dance Force (EDF) Part Time Competitive and Full Time Competitive dance teams travelled to three out of town competitions this year, including the Fever International Dance Championships in Burlington Ontario, the Energy Dance Competition in Grand Rapids Michigan and the Breaking Bounds Dance Challenge in Alliston Ontario. They also attended two conventions: the NRG Dance Project in Cleveland Ohio, and the Breaking Bounds Dance Convention in Toronto, Ontario. At these conventions, they had the opportunity to train with top industry and celebrity choreographers, including but not limited to: Chelsie Hightower, Katy Tate, Desmond Richardson, Ava Flav, Lacey Schwimmer, Brittany Parks, Hailee Payne, Jennifer Parsley Taylor, Channing Cooke and Marty Kudelka.

EDF performers were recognized by competition judges and convention faculty with several special awards, choreography awards and were also awarded several overall high scores at each event.

In total, the EDF team was awarded 89 overall high score standings that included solos, duets, trios and groups. They were also chosen to receive 41 special awards, judge’s choice selections and choreography recognitions.

40 scholarships and titles were awarded to students to allow them to travel to dance schools in Hamilton, Toronto, New York City and San Diego.

Caitlyn Nicholson was crowned as the Senior Solo Champion at the Energy competition in Grand Rapids.

Celia Higo was awarded the Face of Fever award while Maclyn Corcoran was chosen to receive The Spark Award out of all students in her division. Celia Higo received the highest solo mark of the entire Energy competition.

Senior dance Joey received the top choreography award in Alliston – out of 500 entries – at the Breaking Bounds competition.

EDF part time competitive and full time competitive students were chosen by the Breaking Bounds director to receive a $1,000 scholarship.
